Intel has announced its new Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product families designed to cope with the increased needs of data centers. They will execute such a vast range of tasks as data analytics, high performing computing, cloud-based services, and telecommunications. Implemented improvementsinto a new generation processors allow Intel to claimit to have up to a three-fold increase in performance compared to the previous generation (Xeon E5 v2 family), so any advanced servers, workstations, storage, and networking infrastructures will benefit from applying these chips.

The unavoidable need for more flexibility and increased levels of automation is addressed by this new age of processors. By supporting a Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI), they easily allow powerful and dynamic data centers. Moreover, performance, power efficiency, security, and virtualization all see outstanding benefits with the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v3 product family.

The new processors are in demand for such capabilities as monitoring function cache, allowing more precisely distribute the load; telemetry sensors allowing to get accurate data load of CPU, memory and input-output subsystem. All this makes it possible more precisely to monitor the system, increasing the efficiency of resource use and reducing total cost of ownership.

According to Intel, the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v3 product family has an extension to Intel Advance Extensions 2 (Intel AVX2) which brings the width of vector integer instructions to 256 bits per clock cycle for integer sensitive workloads while delivering gains of up to 1.9 times in higher performance. In addition to 45MB of last level cache, each socket tops out with up to 18 cores each.

When compared to the previous generations, the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v3 product family boosts virtualization density with support reaching up to 70 percent more VMs per server. Being supported by DDR4 memory, they also experience a significant gain in memory bandwidth constrained workloads.

Processors are manufactured on 22-nanometer technology with bulk transistors Tri-Gate.

According to the manufacturer, processor Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 have the best performance in the world of energy efficiency. Processors Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 can work in conjunction with the chipset Intel Communications Chipset 89xx for the communications and networking equipment.

Intel intends to sell its E5-2600 v3 product family in 26 different parts at a price range from $213 up to $2,702. The E5-1600 workstations will be sold in six different parts at a price range between $295 and $1,723.

According to the updated Intel processors price list Intel has developed 11 new Xeon server chips.

All new products belong to Xeon E3 v3 Family and manufactured at 22 nm. 4cored processors support 8 threads of execution.  Clock frequency ranges from 2.0 to 3.7 GHz, the maximum dissipation of heat - from 25 to 84 watts. The prices vary within $200-800.

Intel processors Core Haswell Refresh are now available. These products as well are based ​​on 22nm technology where Tri-Gate (transistors bulk structure) is applied. Desktop processors imply the use of socket LGA 1150. By installing the latest BIOS for their 8 series motherboard, users will be able to make the best out of improvements that Intel's CPUs have to offer.

In conclusion we would like to mention that in the end of 2014 Intel will launch the production of processors of new generation – Broadwell. Manufactured at 14nm they will become more efficient in terms of energy consumption. And in 2015 Broadwell chips will be superseded by the solutions of Slylake generation. They will stand for an up-to-date graphics controller and memory of DDR4 generation.

The unique chips, which are produced by 22nm 3D Tri-gate Transistors Technology, have up to 15 cores.  Hyper-Threading Technology allows them to process up to 30 instructions streams.

Upon the official introduction by Intel Xeon E7 v2 chips replaced the previous generation of chips- Xeon E7.

With the 22nm 3D Tri-gate Transistors Technology new chips have been improved so now they contain total of 4,31 billion Transistors and have 541 square millimeter die.

To the introduced Xeon family of processors belong Xeon E7 2800 v2, 4800 v2 и 8800 v2 for servers with the number of processor sockets to two, four and eight, respectively. The number of cores depending on the modification varies from 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15.

At the moment a total of 20 products of the new generation came out. Clock frequency varies from 1.9 to 3.4 GHz. Turbo Boost is held responsible for increased productivity under intensive computing. The third level Cache reaches up to 37.5 MB. The maximum value of heat dissipated energy (TDP) - 105, 130 or 155 watts.

The chips are supplied with two controllers DDR3; maximum memory per one processor socket is 1.5 terabytes. Achieving max memory bandwidth the developers have made a number of updates. The Integrated controller PCI-Express 3.0 now supports 40 lines.

The comparison of the new generation chips to alternative RISC-architectures products shows that Xeon E7 v2 has higher performance up to 80% with a much lower cost. If we compare the new chips with the previous generation Xeon processors, the average speed has doubled, and the capacity of input-output has increased in four times.

The target audience for the mentioned above chips are large-scale business projects.

Well know companies such as Cisco, IBM, Hitachi, Oracle and Supermicro have already expressed their support of the new generation Xeon chips E7 v2.
